My nail biting story #1

I have a dirty little secret...

Hi, my name is Maddie and I am a nail biter.

Yes it is true, no matter how many NOTD posts I read or nail polish hauls I see, I still haven't been able to break the habit of a lifetime.

Nail biting is something that I have been doing for as long as I can remember and you name it, I have tried it in my attempts to break this awful habit; Horrible tasting nail vanish, acrylic overlays and even 'rationing' myself to one nail at a time to name but a few.

However, after lustfully looking at beautiful nail polishes (Essie's Ballet Shoes!!!) and envying all those out there with terrific talons, I finally have the willpower to quit this hankering for hangnails.

As of tomorrow I will be going cold turkey on my little habit and enlisting the help of  a few products to get my nails into shape (blog post coming up!!!).

So hop on board and follow my progress on this nail biting ride!

Are you a recovering enamel nibbler? Have you struggled to keep your addiction at bay? I'd love to know what methods you have tried, and what, if any, successes you have had!

Revlon Colourstay foundation

I know many of you will be able to identify with me when I say Revlon Colourstay was the first 'grown-up' foundation I ever bought. The now defunct Lollipop 26 (but you can still find her here: Buy now, blog later.... totally addictive reading!!!) first brought this gem of the high street into my life.

Since then my little bottle of Colourstay (almost gone mind you) has sat hidden in the back of my ever-expanding collection and has given way to foundations such as Dior Forever and Laura Mercier Mineral Powder.

However, after watching Gossmakeup's 'Best liquid foundations... ever!!!!' video last night, I felt completely inspired to hunt out my Revlon Colourstay foundation (I use the colour 150 Buff). His review reminded me of what a good foundation Colourstay is, especially for us girls with oily skin.

So this morning I decided to head back in time and give my old faithful another outing and I have to say it surprised me. Even after a full day at work, which included stressed out skin rubbing and staying late, when I got back into my car at 6:30pm it still looked at good as it did when I first put it on at 7:30am. No oily clumping, no oxidisation - just the perfect skin I left the house with this morning.

Colourstay is most definitely a full coverage foundation and you have to work quickly with it because once it's on it doesn't shift, although it does stay at the tacky stage for some time. The one downside to Colourstay is the god-awful scent (please Revlon sort this out!!!!).

I am so impressed with it that I am giving it the ultimate test of faith by wearing it again tomorrow where I will be heading to London for press meetings. I will let you know how it fairs with the pollution, the tube and all that London grime.

What old make up favourites have you enjoyed reusing? Was Revlon Colourstay your first 'grown-up' foundation? Let me know, comment and follow!

Thanks for reading

PS. Revlon Colourstay did everything I wanted it to and more during my busy day of press meetings in London. I am also now the proud owner of Laura Mercier Second Skin cheek colour in Lush Nectarine - I blame Anna from Vivianna does make-up for this purchase! Find her blog here and her videos here.

February Faves!

I don't know about you but February seemed to fly by in a Valentine's Day/snowy/visiting friends in Birmingham/working on a major project at work haze. However, all that activity didn't stop me compiling a list as long as my arm of things I have been loving in this (very busy) month. To see what made the shortlist, keep on reading.

Sunday 4 March 2012

Five good things

1. It's finally pay day on Wednesday - I cannot even begin to tell you how much Laura Mercier's second skin blush in Lush Nectarine is calling me...

2. An ice cold glass of white wine on a Sunday night  - it is still technically the weekend after all!

3. Salted popcorn - best enjoyed while watching Bridesmaids in bed.

4. The Girl with Glass Feet by Ali Shaw - an enchanting tale of love and loss. For the Cinderella in all of us (review coming soon).

5. Daydreaming of far-off lands and distant places - Okay Okay, a package holiday to Egypt (a girl can dream, can't she?).
